Personality: Kirigiri's personality is shaped by the nature of her work. She comes from a clan of detectives and has earned the title of Ultimate Detective at Hope's Peak Academy. To that end, she's a private person, observing others in the background. She interacts with others only when they engage her and once in her company, people are subjected to her analysis. A normal conversation is civil, but distant. At worst, it borders on an interrogation: she'll question and assess her conversation partner and won't hesitate to lecture them if she disapproves of their answer. If anyone tries to push her for information she's unwilling to give about herself, she'll bluntly refuse to answer or walk away.

She's a firm believer in not allowing anyone to dictate her pace. Being an emotional open book makes people susceptible to that, so although she experiences the full spectrum of human emotion, she chooses to keep feelings concealed. This is attributed in part to her upbringing as a detective in the Kirigiri Clan: They prioritize the pursuit of Truth above all things. Indoctrinated with that belief since birth, she doesn't allow her emotions to keep her from doing her job. The suppression of her emotions was reinforced by childhood trauma: During a case, she was caught in an accident which left her hands irreparably burned. She attributes this to getting caught up in someone else's emotions, causing her to act rashly. After that accident, she resolved to let that happen to her ever again.

When she sets her mind to something, she's determined to see it through, no matter what. Her desire to settle the score with the father for abandoning her drove her to become recognized as the Ultimate Detective of Hope's Peak Academy. Motivated by revenge, she focused on cases that would elevate her status as a detective. Most of these cases were brutal murders, but she put her personal feelings and fears aside and risked her life to solve each one.

However, she doesn't do everything on her own. While she's independent, she can work with a partner. She prefers to work behind the scenes, giving people she works with helpful hints, but ultimately wanting them to figure things out on their own. She's knowledgable, but not condescending.

When she's comfortable with someone, she loves to tease. Taking advantage of her usually serious nature and acting skill, she'll respond with something confusing or over the top, just to see how the other person will react. In a free time event, she employs humor to derail a conversation about her past by alluding to a marriage proposal. Her sense of humor usually leaves the other party bemused while she quietly laughs at them.

Abilities: High levels of intelligence, observation and analysis. Despite being physically weak, she has basic knowledge of self-defense, and was trained by an FBI agent in marksmanship. She also has enormous levels of willpower.

Alignment: Thras: In moments when she experiences fear and doubt, she keeps moving forward. Shortly before the beginning of the game, she had her memories of high school as well as her title as the Ultimate Detective erased. The sense that her memories were taken from her as well as uncertainty regarding her father's disappearance were of great concern. In spite of that and being imprisoned in a school where she and her classmates were being coerced to kill each other, she assisted with murder investigations and trials to protect her life and those of her innocent classmates.

Other: Her hands were horrifically burned in an accident, so she always covers them with leather gloves.
